I love what I do in the world of procurement because every adversity [and there are many in the business of procurement!] brings with it the seed of an equivalent opportunity and therein lies possible competitive business advantage as well as wonderful growth and development experiences for me and those with whom I am collaborating at the time.

Being a qualified chemical engineer I naturally have an ordered, logical and systematic approach to problem solving and business. That said, I am ever mindful that everything in business happens with and through people, hence my above use of the word “collaborating” because collaboration in the truest sense of the word fosters a culture where everyone is allowed to be an individual and to bring their best game to the fore in their own unique way.

Membership of professional bodies: South African Auditor & Training Association (SAATCA); Senior QMS Auditor (482); SAEF: Business Excellence Assessor (ATC0152); SAATCA: Provisional Certified Process Assessor (1006) and Institute of Purchasing South Africa (IPSA MTN010).

Etienne Hansby

I started my career in the chemical industry at SASOL Fertilizers and Johnson Matthey 3 and 4 years respectively after completing a BSc from the University of the Western Cape (UWC). The past 17years has been spent in the Inflight Catering Industry at the biggest Inflight Caterer in South Africa by meal volume. I also completed a MBL from the University of South Africa (UNISA).

My areas of focus are process improvements and operational efficiencies. I have been able to achieve reduction in resources whilst increasing output by employing better processes. My current focus is on achieving better efficiencies, operational control and quality control by employing robotics and artificial intelligence in business operations.

WHAT DO PEOPLE SAY?

When Janine was appointed to lead Procurement across the 16 Standard Bank franchises outside of South Africa, she quickly came to terms with the state of Procurement in each of the legal entities, and partnered with the local Procurement leaders to craft a fit-for-purpose remediation programme and capability development programme that would satisfy both the local executive management’s requirements, as well as the minimum standards of the Standard Bank Group.

Nick Geimer
Former Group Chief Procurement Officer, Standard Bank

RoA Procurement led by Janine Hansby has provided Nigeria Procurement access to world class toolkits/standards that have helped leverage master supplier agreements resulting in improved value contracts/relationships with bottom line impact.

WOLE ADENIYI
Executive Director, Operations of Stanbic IBTC Bank Nigeria

For me, Janine Hansby stands out because what she has achieved in Africa is what to many is the unimaginable. She did this through innovative means and by moving away from typical style drudgery management, to consultant style innovative leadership.

HANCK VAN LAAR
Chief Executive Officer, PSA Group

What impressed me the most was her sincere people focus; that every conference she ran had significant chunks of time allocated for the teaching of transformational business and interpersonal success lessons. What this showed me was that Janine has a thorough understanding of the people business.

CHRIS STYLES
Bestselling author and talk radio personality

If leadership is about influence then Janine is an epitome of leadership. People development, talent management, stakeholder management, strategic partnership with suppliers, process improvement and strategic sourcing are key drivers of her successes.
